septuagenarian (adj.) "seventy-year-old," 1793, from L. septuagenarius "containing seventy," from septuageni "seventy each," related to septuaginta "seventy" (see SEPTUAGINT (Cf. Septuagint)). Noun meaning "a 70-year-old person" first recorded 1805.
