Alethea fem. proper name, from Gk. aletheia "truth, truthfulness," from alethes "true," lit. "not concealing," from privative prefix a- "not" (see A- (Cf. a-) (3)) + lethe "forgetfulness, oblivion" (see LATENT (Cf. latent)).
