irregularity
irregularity (n.) early 14c., "violation of Church rules," from O.Fr. irregularité (14c.) and directly from M.L. irregularitas, from irregularis (see IRREGULAR (Cf. irregular)). Meaning "state of being not regular" is from 1590s.
