-tude
-tude Latinate suffix forming abstract nouns from adjectives and participles (corresponding to native -NESS (Cf. -ness)), from Fr. -tude, from L. -tudo (gen. -tudinis). As a word in its own right, teenager slang shortening of ATTITUDE (Cf. attitude), it dates from 1970s.
