Evan

Evan masc. proper name, Welsh form of John, form influenced perhaps by Welsh ieuanc "young man" (cognate of L. juvenis), from Celt. *yowanko-, from PIE *yeu- "vital force, youthful vigor" (see YOUNG (Cf. young)).
