-lytic comb. form used in making adjectives corresponding to nouns in -lysis, from Gk. -lytikos, from lytikos "able to loose, loosing," from lytos "loosed," verbal adjective of lyein "to unfasten, loose, loosen, untie" (see LOSE (Cf. lose)).
